I am surprised by the Arteon's pedestrian safety feature

I just learned the new VW Arteon comes standard with a reactive hood for pedestrian safety, if it senses an impact between 15–35 mph, it pops up about 2 inches to soften the hit. I've only seen this once before, which is pretty wild

Yep, when I first heard about it, it's genuinely mind blowing! 🤯 15-35 mph is a pretty common urban speed too. So it literally just springs up? That's some sci fi level stuff for pedestrian safety. I wonder how many other cars are quietly packing similar tech?

Right? It's wild! Yeah, it literally springs up in milliseconds after detecting an impact. I've heard a few other brands are starting to add similar active safety features, but VW's implementation seems one of the smoothest so far
