Screen goes dark while driving

My 2020 Volkswagen Arteon SEL has started shutting down the infotainment without warning and it can take up to 5 mins to restart. The strange part is it happened both with and without my iPhone connected, so I don't think bluetooth is the cause. A coworker told me he had a similar issue with his Passat but his would reset faster. Has anyone found if a software update helps or is this more likely a hardware fault?

A dealer software update helped a lot, especially after they checked for fault codes first. Might be worth asking if your unit's firmware is up to date. Do you notice it happening more in hot weather or after long drives?

This gives me a clear direction. I've noticed that this issue appears more frequently on hot afternoons after the car has been in the sun. I'll call the dealership's service department on Monday to ask about firmware updates. When you got your update, did the dealer already know about it or did you have to ask them to look into a software fix?
