Yep, had that happen before, mine was a whirring near the engine and turned out to be the fan kicking on or a loose belt, or it could also be the fuel pump humming or something electrical., its kinda hard to say without more info, like what car do you have and when does the sound happen?

Ohh, that buzzing sound! I had the same thing in my Arteon a few months back! Turns out for me, it was a wonky auxiliary water pump. I was told it's a known issue on some of the newer VW engines and I'm lucky I still got mine under warranty. Took it to the dealer and the noise was gone!

is it like a humming noise? I got this issue before. my car had transmission issues, you might want to check the fluid levels

I think while this is a possibility, OP still needs to check other reasons? Like it could be that auxiliary water pump or something else related to either the tech or filters. It's kind of incomplete if I only know about "buzzing sound". Too general.
